How to connect to uconnect utah

university networks

icon cable connections are available in student housing, computer labs, and office areas. the campus also has four wireless networks: uconnect, uguest, ulink and eduroam.

  • uconnect is a secure connection that requires a valid unid login. most users can visit onboard.utah.edu to connect a device.
  • ugust is an open access unsecured network for visitors with limited bandwidth.
  • ulink en the university’s wireless network for internet of things (iot) devices such as playstation, xbox, roku, chromecast, etc.
  • eduroam allows students, faculty and staff from participating institutions to gain connectivity to internet throughout campus and when visiting other participating institutions.

campus information services (cis)

icon many university services require you to log in with the university network identification (unid), which you received from admissions when you were accepted, and password. The first time you log in to Campus Information Services (CIS) or cis.utah.edu, you will be prompted to set a new password and answer security questions.

The CIS Portal contains a variety of key areas, including class tools, graduation information, grades, financial services, library research tools, and more. visit our help guide for information on the updated portal.

email

icon all students have access to umail, a free university email account on the microsoft office 365 (o365) platform. umail is one of the main ways the university contacts students and shares official information.

to login:

  • Go to www.umail.utah.edu
  • Sign in with your[email protected] email address and unid password
  • you may be asked to verify your identity with duo 2fa

You can also set up umail with a desktop or mobile email client. We recommend that you create an email alias in the format [email protected].

canvas

iconcanvas is the u’s premier online learning management system (lms), where you can view lectures, grades, and any additional content provided for your lectures (videos, discussion forums, etc.). You can access canvas by logging in with your unid and unid password, or by selecting “canvas” on the cis portal. for canvas support, call 801-581-6112 or email [email protected].

The official University of Utah mobile app provides a convenient way to navigate student life, helping students find their way around campus. stay up to date on news and events; and access information on useful academic and technological resources. features include:

icon the university of utah has several campus agreements to provide some of the most popular software to students at no cost or at a greatly reduced price. this software can be found in the student software catalog, which you can also access via cis.

safety duo (duo 2fa)

icon students are required to use two-factor authentication (2fa) through duo security for certain u resource accounts and applications, including umail, cis, and canvas. 2fa helps prevent unauthorized access to university email and online applications as a result of phishing schemes and other scams. To set up a 2fa duo account, please visit the duo admin portal.

campus alert

icon to specify how the university will contact you in case of campus emergencies, official closings and other important events, review the information in the “campus alert” tile on the cis portal.
