From time to time, your roomba has problems with wi-fi connectivity. Whether it drops an existing network connection, displays or sounds a “not connected” message, or has trouble connecting to a network initially, internet difficulties are never fun, especially when your smart home technology depends on it. . That said, we’re here to help.

Why is my Roomba not connecting to Wi-Fi?
When you turn on your roomba for the first time, you will be prompted (via the companion app) to connect your new robot vacuum to a compatible Wi-Fi network. While this process shouldn’t take long, as the bot will normally connect to the Wi-Fi network your phone is connected to, there are times when the process may not be as straightforward.
Here are some common setbacks you may run into and what you can do to overcome them.
Step 1: First things first: Make sure your Wi-Fi network is working properly.
Sometimes we take this troubleshooting step for granted because we’re so used to having all of our web-connected equipment up and running. In some cases, even if your Wi-Fi is working, it may not be running at peak performance, making it difficult to connect and register new devices.
If you notice that your network is a bit slower than normal, or if you can’t connect to your new robot vacuum, a simple solution is to restart your router. we recommend unplugging, waiting about 15 seconds, and then powering the router back on.
once your network returns, please try to reconnect your roomba again.
Step 2: It is essential to ensure that your roomba is connected to the correct wireless network band.
Currently, most wireless routers (even from your cable provider) will broadcast both 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequencies. traditionally, 2.4 ghz is better for operating equipment that is further away from your router’s base, while 5 ghz is recommended for connecting equipment that is closer to your router.
While we recommend keeping robotic vacuums connected to the 2.4ghz band, many roomba models have the ability to connect to a 5ghz network.
there are many models, not all models.
the roomba 600 line can only connect to a 2.4ghz network. in fact all models below i6 family can’t pair with 5ghz network. if you’ve been trying to pair your 600 model with a 5ghz band, that’s the problem.
access the irobot companion app, switch the wi-fi to your 2.4ghz option and you’re good to go.
Step 3: If your roomba’s performance has been somewhat choppy, it may be a matter of distance. Ideally, your vacuum’s home base should be fairly close to your router for optimal operating conditions.
The farther the base station is from your router, the less bandwidth your base will send back to the roomba.
If your roomba’s charging cradle is located far away from your router, consider relocating it closer to your network hub.
Step 4: If all else fails, sometimes a factory reset is what you’ll need to get your roomba back in tip-top shape. this process essentially wipes your vacuum’s internal memory and will likely require you to re-add it to the app as new.

How do I reconnect my Roomba to Wi-Fi?
Should your roomba become disconnected from your network, or if you’re setting up your vacuum for the first time, connecting the bot is a quick and easy process.
Step 1: Make sure your mobile device is connected to any network (2.4ghz or 5ghz) that your roomba supports. you’ll also want to make sure you’ve enabled bluetooth on your device.
step 2: check that the roomba is in its charging base. then launch the irobot companion app from your mobile device.
Step 3: If this is your first time adding roomba to your Wi-Fi network, choose Add Robot. then choose a name for your vacuum and press continue.
step 4: enter the password of your Wi-Fi network and press continue. From here your roomba should automatically pair with your network.
Step 5: If you’ve experienced a network outage or some kind of intermittent issue with your wi-fi, or just want to change the network your roomba lives on, launch the irobot app and go to network settings.
Find the network you want the vacuum to connect to, enter the password, and wait for your roomba to connect.
